About Us



Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes on the Canandaigua Lake Pier, The New York Wine & Culinary Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that showcases New York’s dynamic agriculture, wine, craft beer and food industries.  The Center’s state-of-the-art facility overlooking Canandaigua Lake features a Hands-On Kitchen, Demonstration Theater, Tasting Room, Private Dining Room, Culinary Boutique, and locally-sourced restaurant, the Upstairs Bistro.


In 2002, Constellation Brands, Wegmans Food Markets, Rochester Institute of Technology, and the New York Wine and Grape Foundation came together with a common goal – to create a gateway for the people of New York and from around the world to experience New York agriculture and viticulture. In 2006, The New York Wine and Culinary Center opened its doors to educate, engage, and excite its visitors from all over the world.


The New York Wine and Culinary Center’s calendar boasts a diverse listing of events and classes, along with the daily operations of the Upstairs Bistro, Tasting Room, and Culinary Boutique.

Culinary classes in the LiDestri Food & Beverage, JADE Range Hands-On Kitchen provide the public, students, and industry professionals with an opportunity to grow their skills whether in a beginner’s knife skills class, a gluten-free baking class, or in a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) Boot Camp.  The class line-up changes frequently to align with the newest culinary trends. The Hands-On Kitchen is also home to several college culinary and hospitality programs in the greater Rochester area, as well as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Rochester’s summer culinary camps for kids.

The Demonstration Theater is home to unique wine and beer lectures or pairings, and corporate events. Similar to the culinary classes, beverage classes change frequently to align with upcoming trends, seasons, and events. As far as corporate events, the Demonstration Theater can accommodate up to 54 participants, and is perfect for business meetings, seminars, slideshows, or even an exciting chef demonstration for lunch! 

Products from both the culinary and beverage classes are available for purchase in the Culinary Boutique and Tasting Room. The Culinary Boutique is filled with New York State food items and culinary tools that complement the classes. Visitors can also taste flights of NYS wines, beers, and spirits in the Tasting Room. Fun fact: The Tasting Room is the only room in New York State that is allowed to serve wine, beer, and spirits all in the same tasting room!

Visitors that are looking for a delicious meal prepared by the Center’s culinary team can relax, taste, and enjoy in the Upstairs Bistro. When the sun is shining, visitors can experience the Upstairs Bistro while enjoying the view of Canandaigua Lake from the wrap-around deck.  The innovative menu that features many locally-sourced food products was crafted by the Center’s dynamic team of chefs.  Executive Chef, Andrew Chambers, and his culinary team work with area farms to select local, seasonal items to ensure that the freshest, ripest products hit the Upstairs Bistro tables. This is just another way the Center strives to represent the best of New York State.

The New York Wine & Culinary Center also hosts public and private events all year long. During the colder months, guests can cozy up by the fireplace in the Sands Gallery, and during the summer, the Garden Tent is sure to be filled, whether with music, BBQs, weddings, or a signature NYWCC event.
